A bespoke course of around 12 students. The Advanced Acting Course is designed to train at a high level in acting and performing during one evening per week, plus homework and showcase performances to agents.

Work with leading directors and acting coaches such as John Mitchell (former associate director of the Traverse Theatre) Clare Cairns (Founder and Director of Acting Out), Marion Geoffray (Film and TV Director) and in the past Philippos Philippous (award winning writer and director from the National Theatre of Greece).

A quick video from some of our Acting Out Drama School students explaining their own experiences, pathways and progressions from Beginner to Professional Actors / Directors and everything in between! Be inspired and feel good about enrolling!

Terms vary depending on the expert coach, the director, the class and the objective set for each term. In the past students have covered Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov, Adler, Hagen, Strasberg, Meisner, Mamet and many different Theatre Art Forms.

As each term is different students enrol term after term, making places very competitive.

Acting Out wishes to enrol the most able and qualified students for this course. All students should meet the demands of the course and achieve the necessary standard required.

Entry by audition only

AUDITIONS

Once you have applied you will receive an automatic email detailing all your audition information. Our main auditioning methods are online via Skype and Self-tape options.

For the auditions, you are required to perform (from memory and in character) one monologue, lasting no more than 2 minutes, either classical (preferably by Shakespeare and in verse) OR a contemporary. This is followed by a short interview and questions are sent beforehand via email.

We will be looking for clear evidence of the abilities required for the course, evidence of practical and intellectual skills necessary for the nature of this course, and personal qualities that would contribute to the class and the school. More details will be given after we receive your application.

Decisions for audition outcomes are normally made at the end of each month.

There is a small fee of Β£10 which covers your application and audition.

Acting Out rekindled my enjoyment of acting which I had put aside for almost 20 years. I loved the thrill each week from the improv games, and the satisfaction of creating a character or scene out of nothing, with a great bunch of people. Having re-established my confidence I am now branching out into a number of unexpected acting directions. 48 Hour Film is the first bit of acting I’ve done since Acting Out. We won 6 prizes including Best Film, so next March I’ll be flown out to Hollywood for the international finals at a film festival called Filmapalooza!
