Master the RP Accent

Workshop for Actors and Public Speakers

This 90 min online workshop is for actors and public speakers.

Ever wondered how Gillian Anderson can switch between her American and her English voice so effortlessly? Were you surprised to discover Renée Zellweger’s American nationality despite her spot-on RP accent in Bridget Jones' Diary? Do you see audition calls requesting a “neutral” or “Standard” British English accent? Or do you simply adore the RP accent and would like to learn it to become a clearer public speaker?

In this workshop, we will cover all the basics you need to speak with an RP accent. 

RP is short for Received Pronunciation and it’s an essential accent to know for any actor and speaker working in the UK. It’s a regionally neutral accent and as such arguably the  most requested accent for screen and stage here in the UK. Because of its abundance in film and on TV, RP is also one of the most commonly intelligible accents, and as such a useful tool for public speakers and actors alike.

Have you ever been flabbergasted after finding out that the actor with the RP accent in a movie is actually Scottish and speaks with a lovely Glaswegian accent in real life?  Or have you been impressed by a friend who speaks like an American even though their first language isn’t English?

Would you like to know how some people can easily slip into different accents or drop their own accent to become a “clearer” speaker?

Would you like to learn a new accent yourself? Or strengthen your accent to become a more confident actor or public speaker?

How to Nail Self-Tape Auditions…

Workshop for Actors and Directors

This 90 min online workshop is for actors and directors.

Want to submit the PERFECT self-tape next time the opportunity comes up? Or make sure you get the most from your potential cast?

This is an intensive technical workshop looking at the Do’s and Dont’s of self-taping, from equipment to light, frames to editing, develop your digital skills to submit the perfect self-tape.

The workshop will include acting methods for the screen and a self-tape challenge in which after covering the theory. You'll have to submit your self-tape in real time and directors you’ll learn how it all works and what to look for.

Please make sure you have access to a computer and an additional device (phone/tablet) to record.

✅  You’ll uncover the technical basics for self-taping success from an acting and directing perspective

✅  You’ll discover new acting methods which are suited for the screen

✅ You’ll walk away with the digital mastery your need to submit a perfect self-tape or what to look out for as a director

✅  You’ll learn the key differences between what works and what doesn’t when filming

Master the American Accent

Workshop for Actors and Public Speakers

This 90 min online workshop is for actors and public speakers.

Would you like to create opportunities for new roles by adding an American accent to your repertoire? Have you ever wondered how Daniel Kaluuya tricked the world into thinking he’s actually American when he pulled off that flawless accent in Get Out? Or do you just have a general interest in accents and want to learn how to speak like the characters from all your favourite American shows like The Simpsons, Breaking Bad or Schitt’s Creek? 

If so, this workshop is for you!  

In this workshop, you will learn all the basics you need to speak with a comfortable and authentic American accent. The General American accent, like RP here in the UK, is considered a regionally neutral accent. That is, it sounds distinctly American but cannot be identified with one specific place within the United States, which is why it is used in many TV shows, films, and plays.

Being familiar with the General American accent is a key skill in the actor’s tool belt. It is also a great foundation for learning any other North American accent.
